We finally got some winter here at the Gallery. I plowed 2 or 3 times so far this winter. That is not very many times compared to other years. Now it seems to be mud season, almost February too. Weird. So it will be very fun squishing up the two-track to the gallery.  After taking January off I'm  ready to come down to the shop and start 3 watercolors. Thats my goal this winter (till March): Create 3 original paintings and make 6 prints of each.  Can't wait to see them!

We've been hanging out at our cottage on Lime Lake A LOT this winter.  Tucker the Chessie  loves it over here.

This is a random winter pic from the north side of Narada Lake. One of my favorite winter places.

has potential for a painting, what?

Sitting in the studio today getting some glazing done, well, maybe not done but getting a good start. I guess I shouldn't be writing my notes on the newsprint 'drop cloth' as it won't be here long.  Anyway, I've got the combinations worked out and have the base layer done on both sets. Obsidian on one set, smokey merlot on the other. We've had a good number of nice folks stop in today. It seemed like a great day to get out and about and enjoy this part of Leelanau County.

All of a sudden its June 2022 and the Gallery is open again. Its been a week already. It being Thursday, Its my day to be up here creating, hopefully, something interesting.  I’m glazing some pots and decided to use a nice bright Turquoise for the insides. Then I’ll put some blue green glazes on the outside. This is when one hopes the fantasy is close to the eventual reality.

Fairie Houses in your Garden

Gardeners, I've been having fun creating fairie houses that you might want for the fairies in your garden.
Faire Houses being created at Good Harbor Gallery.

I have been making these fairie houses using natural materials such as birch bark, twigs, beach rocks, sand, moss, and pine cone shingles. Come select a fairie house for the fairies that live in your garden. Your fairies will love living in one of these cute little homes.

Empty Bowls Decorated by Herbal Renewal Group of Leelanau

Here are some of the bowls decorated at Good Harbor Gallery this January for the charity event coming up in April.  Tickets are only $15 and you support a good cause, get a good meal, and get a free bowl donated by area artists and created by young and old craftsman of all skill levels.

These bowls were all hand thrown by Victoria Gallup and donated as part of Empty Bowls.  They are decorated by a garden group of which she is a member.  Everyone has a lot of fun contributing to this event!
